Summary

This study explored how often liver biopsies were performed in Slovakia in 2001 and the reasons for doing them. Researchers found that 400 biopsies were conducted, with acute viral hepatitis being the most common reason. Most procedures were percutaneous, and the complication rate was very low. The findings suggest that liver biopsy practices in Slovakia align with global standards. No deaths were reported, and the data showed that the procedure was used safely and appropriately.
