Abstract:
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is used by over one million women in the UK. It was introduced 70 years ago and during this period many studies have produced evidence on both its harmful and beneficial effects. This article explains HRT and discusses the variety of other preparations available to control the effects of the menopause. The risks and benefits of HRT are gathered from current evidence.
