Spinal intradural extramedullary cavernous angiomas are rare tumors. Early diagnosis and surgical treatment are crucial for favorable outcomes in patients with this spinal cord lesion.

  • Surgical treatment data for SIEMCAs are limited, with only 20 cases previously reported.

Observation:

  • This report details an additional case of SIEMCA, specifically located in the cervical region.
  • SIEMCAs predominantly affect males and are often found in the lower thoracolumbar spine.
  • A notable association with subarachnoid hemorrhage and adherence to neural structures (nerve root or spinal cord) is observed.

Findings:

  • Resection of SIEMCAs is feasible and can be achieved without significant patient morbidity.
  • The neurological outcome is strongly correlated with the patient's preoperative neurological status.
