  • Erectile Dysfunction Management

Context:

  • Oral pharmacotherapy currently dominates erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment.
  • Surgical interventions for ED have evolved significantly.
  • Evaluating the current role of surgical options is crucial for comprehensive ED care.

Purpose:

  • To provide a critical and up-to-date overview of surgical therapy options for ED.
  • To assess the current relevance and long-term outcomes of various surgical ED treatments.
  • To compare surgical interventions with established pharmacotherapies.

Summary:

  • Penile vein surgery and penile revascularization surgery have become largely insignificant due to limited efficacy and disappointing long-term results.
  • These procedures are now reserved for highly selected patient groups, with strict exclusion criteria.
