Summary

Bone marrow stimulation may enhance heart recovery after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Patients showing signs of bone marrow stimulation had better left ventricular function six months post-discharge compared to controls.

  • These cells have the potential to regenerate damaged heart tissue.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate if bone marrow stimulation improves myocardial functional recovery after acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

Main Methods:

  • 104 patients with anterior wall AMI treated within 12 hours were studied.
  • 23 patients showed immature blood cells (Group 1), 38 matched patients did not (Group 2).
  • Left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) was assessed on admission and 6 months post-discharge.

Main Results:

  • No significant baseline differences between groups.
