Insights
Young individuals with ischaemic heart disease often have family cardiovascular risk factors. A 28-year-old male experienced myocardial infarction and stent restenosis, highlighting the impact of untreated hypertension and dyslipoproteinemia.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Genetics
- Preventive Medicine
Background:
- Ischaemic heart disease (IHD) in young adults is increasingly recognized.
- Family history of cardiovascular disease is a significant risk factor.
- Genetic predisposition plays a role in early-onset IHD.
Observation:
- A 28-year-old male presented with myocardial infarction.
- Treatment involved primary angioplasty and stent implantation.
- Restenosis within the stent was observed during follow-up angiography at 4 months.
Findings:
- The patient had a family history of cardiovascular risk factors.
- Undiagnosed and untreated arterial hypertension and dyslipoproteinemia were present.
- Despite medical intervention, restenosis occurred, linked to underlying risk factors.
Implications:
- Early identification and management of cardiovascular risk factors are crucial in young patients.
- Lifestyle modifications and consistent treatment are essential for preventing recurrent events.
- Genetic screening may be beneficial for individuals with a family history of early IHD.
Abstract:
Ischaemic heart disease in the young people is connected with family cardiovascular risk factors disease. The young 28 years old male, who was presented, has myocardial infarction treated by primary angioplasty and stent implantation. The control angiography was performed 4 month later, restenosis in stent was observed. Patient had family risk factors and arterial hypertension, dyslipoproteinemia, which was not treated before and after myocardial infarction. The doctors informed him about risk factors and modifications in patient's life style.
