Background:

  • Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome is a rare congenital vascular malformation disorder.
  • It is characterized by a triad of capillary malformations, venous and lymphatic malformations, and limb hypertrophy with or without limb-length discrepancy.

Observation:

  • A 28-year-old female patient presented with extensive capillary malformation on her right leg.
  • The malformation was associated with significant limb hypertrophy and limb-length discrepancy, consistent with Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.

Findings:

  • The patient's superficial hemangioma component of the capillary malformation was targeted for treatment.
  • Initial observations suggest that treatment with novel long-pulsed dye lasers may lead to clinical improvement.

Implications:

  • Long-pulsed dye laser therapy represents a potential therapeutic option for managing the superficial vascular components of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.
  • Further research is warranted to establish the long-term efficacy and safety of this treatment modality.
