Gene-modified dendritic cells expressing TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) show promise in treating rheumatoid arthritis. This cell therapy approach successfully limited joint inflammation in a preclinical model, suggesting a new therapeutic avenue for rheumatic diseases.
