Abstract:
Macroscopic examination of surgical specimens is an important issue for the treatment of patients with cancer of the esophagus. Their prognosis is based mainly on the degree of tumor infiltration into the esophageal wall and the presence of lymph node metastasis. This article describes a protocol for the examination of these specimens in surgical pathology departments.
