Abstract:
Stem cell research seems now to reach important progress in biomedicine, giving promising perspective for clinical implementation. The review of stem cell research is presented including origin, content in various organs, harvesting, preservation and storage. Some examples of results achieved in stem cell research including auto- and allotransplantion of stem cells are given. The future of tissue and organ substitution seems to be based on tissue and organ engineering methods.
