Summary

Infliximab significantly reduced disease activity in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). This treatment showed both patient-reported and physician-observed improvements, indicating its potential for managing this chronic inflammatory condition.

Background:

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition with limited effective treatments.
Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) plays a key role in inflammatory processes.
Infliximab, a TNF-alpha inhibitor, has shown efficacy in other inflammatory diseases.

Purpose of the Study:

To retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of infliximab in treating hidradenitis suppurativa.
Assess the impact of infliximab on HS disease activity.

Main Methods:

Retrospective chart review of HS patients treated with infliximab at the University of Miami.
Patients retrospectively reported disease activity before and after infliximab therapy.
