Summary

Novel anticoagulants, including direct thrombin inhibitors and low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWHs), offer improved options for acute myocardial infarction (MI) therapy over unfractionated heparin (UFH). LMWHs show promise as a preferred antithrombin agent for ST-elevation MI (STEMI).
