Summary

Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) primes macrophages to produce more tumor necrosis factor (TNF) during endotoxemia. This priming can lead to harmful inflammatory effects in immunocompetent hosts, highlighting the importance of immune status in inflammatory responses.
