A double application approach to ophthalmia neonatorum prophylaxis

A second application of povidone-iodine eye drops within the first postnatal day did not improve prophylaxis against ophthalmia neonatorum compared to a single birth dose. This study found no added benefit for the two-drop regimen in preventing neonatal conjunctivitis.
