Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report on a 10-year experience with computed tomography (CT)-assisted implant insertion in the sacroiliac (SI) and acetabular regions.
  • To detail the indications and surgical procedures for CT-guided pelvic fracture fixation.

Main Methods:

  • Ninety-eight patients (70% male, average age 40.7) with pelvic injuries underwent CT-guided surgery.
  • Procedures were performed in a CT suite, utilizing CT for pre-operative planning and intra-operative guidance.
  • 73 CT-guided SI region operations (iliiosacral screws, sacral rods) and 19 acetabular region operations were performed.

Main Results:

  • All implants were correctly inserted with a low complication rate (one guidewire deviation, one late infection, one loosened nut).
  • Complete bony healing was achieved in all treated fractures, including pseudoarthrosis.
  • No secondary dislocations occurred after implant removal.
