Summary

This study found no significant link between fear of movement (kinesiophobia) and actual physical performance in functional capacity evaluations for chronic low back pain patients. High kinesiophobia scores did not correlate with lower lifting capacity or work ability.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between kinesiophobia and performance in functional capacity evaluations.
  • To determine if kinesiophobia influences avoidance behaviors in patients with chronic low back pain.

Main Methods:

  • Assessed kinesiophobia using the Dutch Version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia.
  • Measured physical performance through a lifting task and a functional capacity evaluation (FCE) categorized by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (FCE-DOT).
