Summary

A rare recurrent scleral abscess developed after cataract surgery. Prompt diagnosis and antifungal treatment led to symptom resolution and restored vision.

  • The abscess was ultimately identified as Candida fungal infection via Gomori methenamine silver (GMS) stain.
  • Treatment with amphotericin, natamycin, and fluconazole resulted in symptom resolution and visual recovery.

  • This case highlights the importance of considering fungal infections in persistent post-operative scleral abscesses.
