Summary

Transesophageal atrial stimulation is a valuable diagnostic tool for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias (PSVT). This method effectively diagnosed PSVT in a significant number of patients, often negating the need for further invasive electrophysiological studies.

  • EAS successfully induced supraventricular tachycardias in 75% of patients with documented PSVT and 51% with suspected PSVT.
  • Diagnostic accuracy reached 87% when R-P interval was measurable, and nearly half of patients avoided further invasive studies.
