Purpose of the Study:

  • A randomized, double-blind, crossover study involving 19 children and adolescents (aged 7-17) with tic disorders.
  • Participants received 4 weeks of pimozide and 4 weeks of risperidone treatment, separated by a 2-week placebo washout.

    • The enhanced tic suppression with risperidone comes with a trade-off of increased weight gain.
    • Both medications were generally well-tolerated regarding ECG changes, but adherence may be a concern.
