Area of Science:

  • Ophthalmology
  • Pediatric Health
  • Human-Computer Interaction

Background:

  • Early detection of amblyopia is crucial for successful treatment.
  • Current screening methods often miss preschool-aged children.
  • Accessible screening tools are needed for early intervention.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore the feasibility of web-based vision screenings for children aged 3-6.
  • To integrate patient education for parents and children into the screening process.
  • To develop a highly usable screening website using a user-centered design.

Main Methods:

  • Employed a user-centered design methodology with requirements gathering and iterative prototyping.
  • Conducted usability testing with parents and children in their home environment.
