Area of Science:

  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Chromatography

Background:

  • Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) requires reliable color reference standards for accurate analysis.
  • Standardization of reference materials is crucial for reproducible chromatographic results.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To synthesize various flavianic acids.
  • To evaluate their suitability as color reference standards for TLC.

Main Methods:

  • Synthesis of flavianic acids.
  • Analysis using infrared (IR) spectroscopy.
  • Purity assessment for impurities.
  • Odor evaluation.

Main Results:

  • Synthesized flavianic acids exhibited identical specific IR absorptions.

Related Experiment Videos

  • No impurities were detected in the prepared flavianic acids.
  • The compounds were odor-free.
  • Conclusions:

    • The synthesized flavianic acids meet the criteria for use as color reference standards.
    • These flavianic acids provide a reliable standard for TLC applications.
