Summary

This study found no link between the ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) null allele and body weight or composition in US cohorts. These findings contradict previous European research on CNTF genotype and body mass index (BMI).

Background:

  • To investigate the association between the CNTF null allele and body composition.
  • To replicate or refute findings from a European cohort regarding CNTF genotype and body weight/BMI.
