Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the prevalence of formal operative dictation education in U.S. Obstetrics and Gynecology residency programs.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of a brief, formal teaching session on operative dictation skills.

  • A survey was distributed to 270 U.S. Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program directors.
  • Operative dictations of 16 residents at the University of Iowa were scored before and after a 30-minute teaching session.
