Background:

Amniotic band syndrome (ABS) is a rare congenital disorder.
It is characterized by fibrous bands of amnion that can entrap fetal parts.
The etiology of ABS remains incompletely understood, with several hypotheses proposed.

Observation:

This case report details a stillbirth attributed to umbilical cord compression by an amniotic band.
The intrauterine death resulted from the constricting effect of the amniotic band on the umbilical cord.
Detailed personal observations of the event and its sequelae are provided.

Findings:

The primary finding is a direct causal link between amniotic band constriction and intrauterine fetal death.
Review of previous literature supports this mechanism in other reported cases.
Analysis of current etiological hypotheses for ABS is presented.
