Summary

Depression, not dementia, may cause elevated cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) in elderly patients. This study found higher levels in patients with cognitive impairment and depressive symptoms.
