Abstract:
DC-SIGN, a specific C-type lectin expressed on dendritic cells, binds and transmits multiple strains of primate immunodeficiency viruses to susceptible cells. Here, we report that human DC-SIGN also captures feline immunodeficiency virus via high-affinity (1 nM), Ca(2+)-dependent, D-mannose-inhibited binding to the major envelope glycoprotein, gp95.
