  • To determine the impact of a single bout of exercise and subsequent hyperinsulinemic/euglycemic clamp on LPL activity in men and women.

Main Methods:

  • Healthy lean men and women (n=10 each) underwent a single bout of exercise or a rest day, followed by a hyperinsulinemic/euglycemic clamp.

    Conclusions:

    • Post-exercise, men demonstrated a significant increase in both muscle and adipose tissue LPL activity within 3-4 hours.
    • In contrast, LPL activity remained unchanged in women during the same post-exercise period.
    • The hyperinsulinemic/euglycemic clamp did not independently affect tissue LPL activity in either gender after rest or exercise.
