Colorectal adenomas produce lysozyme

Lysozyme, an antibacterial enzyme, is overexpressed in most colorectal neoplasias, including adenomas and carcinomas. This suggests a potential role in colorectal cancer development and may indicate early changes in some hyperplastic polyps.
