Background:

  • Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is produced by reactive T cells in CD25-positive malignant lymphomas (ML).
  • IL-6 is known to induce IL-2 receptor expression, IL-2 production, and stimulate lymphoma cell growth.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate Interleukin-6 (IL-6) mRNA expression in CD25-positive malignant lymphomas (ML).
  • To determine the cell types responsible for IL-6 production within ML.
  • To elucidate the role of IL-6 in the proliferation of malignant lymphomas.

Main Methods:

  • In situ hybridization was used to detect IL-6 mRNA expression in ML samples.
  • Immunohistochemistry was employed in combination with in situ hybridization.
  • CD25-positive and CD25-negative ML were analyzed, including anaplastic large cell lymphomas and B-diffuse large cell lymphomas.
