Abstract:
The present article deals with the situation and development of clinical-therapeutic research in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. An early and important contribution was formulated by Paul Martini in his "Methodology of Therapeutic Investigation" in 1932 (1). His life, his perception of problems in therapeutic research, the major aspects of his methodology and discussion of issues in medical ethics will be presented.
