Abstract:
The biography and family history of Samuel Vollmar author of "Chirurgie der Hausthiere" (1830) was discovered while researching the manuscript. The family history extends from the end of the 18th century to the present and reflects a small part of the developmental history of the veterinary profession. The manuscript is based on multiple sources. It remains unknown whether the manuscript was written at the veterinary school in Zurich or Bern.
