Summary

This study found that using two mini dynamic compression plates for mandibular angle fractures is easy but unpredictable. Complications like infection and nonunion occurred in 29% of cases, sometimes requiring further surgery.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and complication rates of ORIF for mandibular angle fractures using two mini dynamic compression plates.
  • To assess the need for postoperative maxillomandibular fixation (MMF).

Main Methods:

  • Thirty patients with 31 mandibular angle fractures were treated.
  • Open reduction and internal fixation with two mini dynamic compression plates and self-threading screws.
  • Transoral incision with transbuccal trochar instrumentation.

    • The use of two mini dynamic compression plates without MMF may lead to complications requiring further intervention.
