Abstract:
OBJECTIVE:Endocrine factors affected on alveolar bone repair in ultrastructure level were observed. METHODS: The two osseous wall infrabony pockets in 24 dog models were divided into 4 groups randomly. The dogs were sacrificed in groups of 2 successively at 1 month,2 months and 6 months after operation. The alveolar bone was prepared for light microscopic and transmission electron microscopic observation. RESULTS: The bone formation was slower in ovariectomy group than in normal control group. The bone osteoporos was occurred in diabetes group and the bone formation decreased in thyroidism group. CONCLUSION: This study suggested that endocrine factors may influence and regulate the repair and resorption of alveolar bone.
