Background:

Cataract surgery is a common procedure.
Macular edema can be a postoperative complication.
Understanding its characteristics is crucial for patient management.

Purpose of the Study:

To characterize macular edema following uneventful cataract surgery.
To identify the location and associated features of postoperative macular edema.

Main Methods:

Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation in 32 patients.
Postoperative assessments at 3, 6, 12, and 30 weeks.
Utilized retinal leakage analysis, optical coherence tomography, and retinal thickness analysis.

The presence of leaking sites in the macula is associated with this edema.
Findings suggest a trend toward recovery, but persistent edema can occur.
