Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Balneology
  • Heliotherapy

Background:

  • Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition.
  • Effective long-term treatments with minimal side effects are sought.
  • Heliomarinotherapy involves exposure to sunlight and sea air.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of heliomarinotherapy for psoriasis.
  • To assess the duration of remission and side effects.
  • To determine the necessity of corticosteroid use during treatment.

Main Methods:

  • Investigated heliomarinotherapy in Veli Losinj, Croatia.
  • Observed patients undergoing heliomarinotherapy for psoriasis.
  • Recorded remission duration and adverse effects.

Main Results:

  • Heliomarinotherapy resulted in long-lasting remissions for psoriasis patients.
  • Reported side effects were generally slight.
  • Corticosteroid use was not necessary for achieving remission.

Conclusions:

  • Heliomarinotherapy is a viable therapeutic option for psoriasis.
  • The treatment provides sustained symptom relief.
  • It offers an alternative to conventional therapies like corticosteroids.
