Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Histopathological studies on various urticaria types are limited.
  • Urticarial vasculitis is an exception with available literature.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate histopathological changes in chronic urticarial eruptions.
  • To correlate these findings with clinical presentation.

Main Methods:

  • Skin biopsy studies were conducted.
  • 36 patients diagnosed with chronic urticaria were included.

Main Results:

  • Three distinct histopathological patterns were identified: neutrophilic, lymphocytic, and mixed.
  • No cases of vasculitis were observed in the study cohort.
  • No specific correlation was found between histopathological patterns and clinical presentation.

Conclusions:

  • Chronic urticaria exhibits distinct histopathological patterns.
  • Further research is needed to understand the clinical significance of these patterns.
