The purpose of that work was to assure the advisability of hysterectomies without adnexes at perimenopausal women and to find the answer if that operation constitutes a form of prevention of ovarian cancer.
Materials And Methods:
The patients operated at our ward between 1989 and 2001. All patients that horebun performed hysterectomies without adnexes were taken into the analysis.
Results:
During 3-7 years after the initial operation 40 (5.6%) patients were reoperated and the ovarian tumors were removed. Histologically 87.5% of the tumors were benign, and 12.5% were cancers, that is 0.6% of all operated women.
