Use of a family record in diabetes clinics

As a result of a two-year study funded by a BDA Diabetes Development Project, data are presented on the usefulness of a family record in paediatric diabetes clinics. There was a poor response to the invitation to try the family record. Examples are given of its potential usefulness but it is acknowledged that it is likely to be more useful if a psychiatrist or psychotherapist is part of the team.
