Summary

Squamous cell carcinoma of the biliary tract is rare. This study highlights an atypical case of common bile duct cancer and discusses its unique clinical features and prognosis compared to adenocarcinoma.

  • Literature review included 3 other SCC of the bile duct, 17 intrahepatic SCC, and 30 SCC of the gallbladder.

Findings:

  • SCC of the biliary tract exhibits distinct clinical presentations compared to adenocarcinoma.
  • These rare biliary cancers may possess unique prognostic factors influencing treatment strategies.
