[Holistic-psychosomatic aspects of surgical organ loss]

Surgical interventions in gynaecology are from a holistic, psychosomatic perspective equally essential interventions into the life history of the treated women. Using a review of international research literature dealing with coping-processes after hysterectomy and breast surgery, the author discusses possible psychological and psychopathological consequences of these operations. In addition the presents possibilities for improving as well the preoperative doctor-patient-dialogue as postoperative psychotherapeutic and body therapeutic strategies.
