    Summary

    Plasma B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) testing may soon be standard for monitoring heart failure, similar to how glycated hemoglobin is used for diabetes. Currently, BNP tests are primarily used to help rule out heart failure in patients presenting with new symptoms.
