Objective:
Study the effect of glycolaldehyde on DNA of mouse spleen lymphocytes.
Methods:
The DNA damage induced by different concentrations of glycolaldehyde was detected using single cell gel electrophoresis assay (SCGE).
Results:
Glycolaldehyde at 0.01 mmol/L could induce lymphocyte DNA strand breakage and DNA damage rate was 8% and, the average migration distance of DNA was (14.32 +/- 2.84) micron. DNA damage rate and the average migration distance of DNA were increased in a concentration-dependent manner.
Conclusion:
glycolaldehyde could induce DNA damage in different concentration in this experiment.
