Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the efficacy and side effect profiles of epidural oxycodone versus epidural morphine in postoperative pain management following gynecological surgery.

Main Methods:

  • A prospective, double-blind, randomized study involving 75 women undergoing gynecological surgery.
  • Patients received either epidural morphine 6 mg/day (n=25), oxycodone 6 mg/day (n=25), or oxycodone 12 mg/day (n=25).
  • Pain (VAS), satisfaction (VDS), sedation, pruritus, and nausea/vomiting were assessed for 3 days post-surgery.
