Area of Science:

  • Oral Pathology
  • Head and Neck Anatomy

Background:

  • Ectopic oral tonsillar tissue is an uncommon finding.
  • Its presence can mimic other oral lesions, leading to diagnostic challenges.

Observation:

  • Two cases of patients presenting with oral tonsillar tissue are described.
  • The tissue was located in the floor of the mouth in these instances.

Findings:

  • Oral tonsils are a rare entity that can be mistaken for other conditions.
  • Differential diagnosis of oral soft tissue nodules should include ectopic tonsillar tissue.

Implications:

  • Increased awareness of oral tonsils can improve diagnostic accuracy.
  • Clinicians should consider ectopic tonsillar tissue in the differential diagnosis of oral lesions.
