Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate and characterize vascular patterns in tendonitis and tenosynovitis using ultrasound and Power Doppler.

  • Ultrasound (US) and Power Doppler (PD)-US examinations were performed on 96 patients with various tendon pathologies and 6 healthy controls.

    Conclusions:

    • Power Doppler ultrasound confirms in vivo tendon vascularity and aids in differentiating inflammatory tendon conditions.
    • Spectral analysis provides additional information to grayscale US findings.
    • PD-US can monitor treatment response by detecting changes in vascularity.
