Summary

Perinatal hypothyroidism impairs brain development and myelination by reducing myelin basic protein (MBP) mRNA levels indirectly. Thyroid hormone (TH) replacement did not fully restore MBP levels or oligodendrocyte numbers in hypothyroid rats.
