Summary

Orgasmic aura, a rare seizure symptom, was observed in seven patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. This symptom may indicate a right hemisphere epileptic focus but is not a definitive diagnostic sign.

Background:

Observation:

  • Three patients revealed their aura symptoms years after onset, coinciding with intensified epilepsy diagnostics due to drug resistance.
  • One patient declined further treatment, valuing the orgasmic aura's perceived positive role.

Findings:

  • All patients diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy.
  • Six patients showed evidence of a right temporal epileptic focus (EEG, MRI, SPECT).
  • One patient had a left temporal focus, with the left hemisphere being speech-dominant.
