[Hygienic and physiological aspects of changing dressings]

The dressing has an impact on wound healing. If we want to prevent impaired wound healing, exchange of dressings must be done with hygienic precautions and damage of the wound must be avoided. It is better to use for re-dressing single-use sterile dressings from the so-called set-system than dressings from sterile drums. Selection of dressings should depend on the stage of healing of the wound. If a major wound is uncovered and left so for a long time, this interferes with healing.
