Staff nurse autonomy and sound clinical judgement must be role modeled by nurse executives who have an influence in the organizational structure. Access to and ability to communicate with governing bodies is antecedent to productivity and professional image in nurse executives. 4. Growth-focused mentality in the area of services and bed capacity coupled with a "spontaneous generation" concept for provision of nursing personnel results in decaying staff morale.
