|January 1, 1979
Summary
Rare venous malformations, termed varicosities of the fossa ovalis, present as dilated venous channels. These findings suggest "venous malformation" is a more accurate term than "varix" for these rare heart lesions.
Area of Science:
- Cardiovascular Pathology
- Vascular Malformations
Background:
- Varicosities of the fossa ovalis, also known as angiomas, are rare venous malformations.
- These lesions are typically discovered as incidental autopsy findings.
